Misery Feels Like-Devereaux Frazier

Misery feels

Like tired muscles

That you keep on moving

Because you don’t know how to stop

There’s innocence to the madness

Believing you’ll eventually find happiness

Instead of new doorways, lower windows

And every opportunity to undo the good

What little good remains

Misery feels

Like messages sent to friends

That never get replied to

Open, but never responding

Leaves us in a state of despondence

Sickness of hearts is alarming

And the dangling remains show much

I’d love to know and care

But most of all

Misery is like any day

Some are better, some or worse

But at the end of it all

Something, somewhere

Still hurts
